North Louisiana Fly Fishers
About the North Louisiana Fly Fishers
The NLFF is geared towards family fun. We pride ourselves on establishing an environment that is comfortable for members of all ages and skill levels.
Our monthly meetings feature speakers on various topics. Monthly fly tying classes allow you to learn or improve fly tying skills as well as leave the class with your very own fishable fly.
As the closest cold water fishery, the NLFF considers the Little Missouri (Little Mo') River near Murfreesboro, AR our home waters.
We also fish in and around the Shreveport/Bossier City area as well as in East Texas, southeast Oklahoma and the Louisiana gulf coast. Whether you prefer fishing warm water for bream, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, black crappie or white crappie, saltwater for specks, reds and flounder, or coldwater for rainbow, brown, and cutthroat trout, the NLFF has something to offer you. We are blessed with easy access to all three types of water. With two hours to coldwater, three hours to saltwater, and warm water all around, the fly fishing is fantastic!
In addition to those two monthly activities, the NLFF sponsors various events/outings throughout the year like our annual Frozen Chozen outing and our Chili and Flies meeting. Our Masters Series event every July is regionally known. Past speakers have included Davy Wotten, Dave Whitlock and Bob Clouser. Kayak demos, special fly tying demonstrations by regionally known tiers, and various fly fishing day or weekend trips are just a few of the activities that we plan for our members.
We work closely with the Red River National Wildlife Refuge in Bossier City to help bring educational programs on fishing and conservation to the youth of the Ark-La-Tex. We regularly assist local Boy Scouts in obtaining their Fly Fishing merit badge. Our members enjoy working with today's youth and have a blast doing so! Fly fishing is wonderful to get kids away from the electronics and into nature.
